Daily Nourishment for November 19, 2024: In Quiet You Will Find Peace with Guidance from Tanya Davis

Daily Nourishment Read Time: 40 seconds
Pause/Prompt/Practice Time: 13-15 minutes

"In stillness lives wisdom. In quiet you will find peace. In solitude you will remember yourself." —Robin Sharma

Pause.

Sit in silence and solitude for five minutes. When thoughts come to mind that pull you away from this quiet space, notice them and let them pass.

Prompt.

"I think for me, listening to music is a very solitary thing."— Becky Albertalli

Write about your "solitary thing" for five minutes. How do you create space for it? How does it help you remember yourself? What feelings does it bring?

Or write about why sitting by yourself is hard to do. Why is it uncomfortable? What does it make you feel in your body? What thoughts go through your mind?

Practice.

Do a slow reading of the poem “Sometimes” by David Whyte. Read, listen to, and meditate on the poem for three-to-five minutes.

Put a designated solitude day on your calendar this week. You get to decide how long it will be. I recommend no people, computer, phone, or social media checks.
