No. You Don’t Have to Write Every Day.
No. You don’t have to write every day. But your writing might find you anyway.
I was going to skip writing writing today because I have several BUSINESS OF WRITING things I need to do and it’s Friday and I’m just not that worried about getting the first full draft of the manuscript for my second book finished because I know it will work out.
The manuscript is due to my editor on April 30th. I’d love to finish the first draft by the end of February and have plenty of time for revision because revision is my favorite, but I’m not sure if that’s a realistic goal. And I know there will still be plenty of time for revision if I complete the first draft in March or April. Everything that needs to unfold will unfold. The book will become what it’s supposed to become.
Anyway.
I was going to skip writing writing today, so I did what one does when one has decided to skip writing writing. I watched the next episode of a show I started last weekend. But the episode ties in perfectly to something I’ve been mulling over for the Spiritual Direction for Writers book, so the words found me anyway.
The writing found me anyway.
The art found me anyway.
And now I have the beginning of a new chapter.
I wrote when I wasn’t planning on writing because the process of making art is so much bigger than me and my plans.
A Question for You: When did the writing found you anyway?
