When Things Change

Tomorrow morning’s Daily Nourishment email will have a link to an old IG Live in the “Want More?” section because I’m trying to include things from the past that are still wonderful and helpful. I definitely think this IG Live video will help others feel less alone in the joys and pains of the writing life.

It was also fun to watch the conversation and notice how many things have changed since July 2021.

First. Shoutout to things like Art & Faith Collective that were dreams once upon a time that didn’t really have a chance to come to fruition. That was such a great idea, but it was also a VERY LARGE IDEA that needed a full-time staff of 10 people to pull it off.

I’m so thankful for how things have unfolded with Spiritual Direction for Writers since I realized I had to die to my Art & Faith Collective dream. I hope to incorporate some of the elements from the Art & Faith Collective plans in SDW in the coming months. One thing I really loved about Art & Faith Collective was the mindset of abundance—that there’s room for all of us to do our work and make our art in healthy and meaningful ways without feeling threatened by the creativity, ambition, and success of others.

Also. Shoutout to the apartment we lived in for like nine months when we first moved to Mountain Brook for our son to play basketball on the best team in the state. I loved that little 2BR apartment (and the second 1BR apartment that had our daughter’s bedroom and a workspace for Tim and me), but thank God we have our condo now. We are still settling into this home, but it feels like home. (Mostly. I think.)

And. Thank God our son is on an even better team at a boarding school in Asheville. He’s flourishing in all areas and we’re so proud of him.

It sure has been a journey in more ways than one.
