Full Days and Lots of Rest and Singing to the 1.5%
The past few days have been very full.
Thank God I figured out how to rest well somewhere along the way.
Thank God I know I need to take breaks and do fun things even when I have a lot of work and writing and other things to do.
Today was very full of work and writing and website updates and a SDW Membership launch.
And I had a wonderful Zoom call with a dear friend from my MFA program.
And I watched some basketball with my husband.
And my kids made me laugh in our family group chat.
And I ate some delicious leftover soup for dinner.
And I saw this on Instagram several hours ago and I’m still thinking about it now because I get it.
Whenever I’m making a point to someone about how I will most likely never have a huge audience for my writing and my work, I use Jen Hatmaker as an example of what I’m not. I’m always like, “I’m just never going to have a Jen Hatmaker type of audience, you know?” And people act like they know what I mean by that.
So, after reading the quote in the image above, I was wondering if my audience is 6% of Jen Hatmaker’s audience. I just did the math for our Instagram accounts and it’s closer to 1.5%.
Which is totally fine.
I’m going to keep singing to the 1.5% who like nuance and paradox and hang out on the periphery and can’t seem to convince themselves to be conventional about their art and faith and whatnot.
Cheers to work and writing and rest and the 1.5%
(Also. I had no idea Jen Hatmaker was divorced and dating another guy and publishing a cookbook and doing a celebrity cruise of some sort. I’m very happy with the 1.5% because I do not do cruises. I will happily go hide in hotel rooms to write without being interrupted by someone else needing me or talking to me or breathing near me, but I will not go on a cruise.)
