The Pre-Church Church Street Run and Chuckling with God During Worship

This morning Tim and I managed to leave for church early enough to have time to go by Church Street Coffee & Books for an Americano (him) and a London Fog Latte (me).

For various reasons, we’re attending two churches right now. (Don’t worry! We don’t go to two churches every Sunday! We only go to one on any given Sunday. And some Sundays we skip entirely, as one does.)

Both churches are great, but one is more conservative than I prefer, so I sometimes use different pronouns for God when we’re singing and praying during worship there. It helps me feel a little less boxed in by the patriarchy.

Using different pronouns when participating in corporate worship makes God chuckle, which makes me chuckle. There are worse things one can do than chuckle with God during worship.

Thank God for the Eucharist. And for kind people who are more conservative or progressive than me. And for pre-church Church Street runs.
