Spiritual Direction for Writers ADVENT 2022 Co-Writing Sessions
If you want a simple way to inhabit the advent season, I’d love for you to join me for the Spiritual direction for writers Advent Co-Writing Sessions. My co-writing liturgy will help you write more, connect with the divine, and feel less alone in your writing life. Write with us at the scheduled times or use the daily recordings. Writers at every stage and from all faith/doubt/confusion backgrounds are welcome.
The Spiritual Direction for Writers Advent Co-Writing offering includes DAILY co-writing sessions at 7 a.m. plus 15 additional sessions. All of our invocations, blessings, and writing prompts will explore themes connected to the Advent season. I will use poems, prayers, and quotes from all writing genres. While the Advent season is rooted in the Christian tradition, its themes have a lot to offer everyone from all faith/doubt/confusion backgrounds.
The 7 a.m. SDW Advent Co-Writing Sessions will be fully guided, so participants’ mics will remain on mute the entire session but writers will have opportunities to add comments to the chat section. The 7 a.m. sessions will also be recorded and will be available to all active SDW Co-Writing registrants who want access to the recordings.
The additional 15 sessions include opportunities to talk to other participants, share about your writing practice, and discuss various aspects of the writing life. (Some of us had a great conversation about daily planners and calendars last week!)
All participants are welcome to come to as many co-writing sessions as they like. When co-writing sessions have more than eight participants, we may use the Zoom rooms feature for the conversation portion at the end of the session.

During Advent, we will use the silent co-writing liturgy for the DAILY 7 a.m. sessions. We will use the regular liturgy with opportunities to speak and discuss the writing life during the 15 additional sessions that aren’t at 7 a.m. Learn more about both liturgies here.
Each co-writing session will last no longer than an hour and 15 minutes and will include about 40 minutes of writing time. The 15 sessions that aren’t at 7 a.m. will close with a 15-minute writing life discussion.
These sessions have a great sense of community and provide opportunities to meet other writers and discuss various aspects of the writing life. This option a good fit for writers who want to establish a regular writing practice, notice the connections between creativity and faith, and feel less alone in their writing.
