When life feels stale, can something as common as water open the imagination and soul?

Pause.

Watch this Niagara Falls webcam or this Lisbon Falls webcam for two minutes.

Prompt.

Read “Twice More to the Lake” by Brian Doyle. Begin a new story, poem, or letter to a friend inspired by a memory connected to water. Write for five minutes.

Practice.

Do three slow silent readings of this poem or this Scripture passage.

  1. Choose a few lines to write down by hand.

  2. Read those same lines aloud twice.

  3. Put both hands under running water for two minutes.

  4. Take notes or journal about water, the Pause, Prompt, and Practice for four minutes.
