Pause.

Set a timer for two minutes and meditate on And Women Must Weep by Rockwell Kent.

 

Prompt.

Tears are one of the hardest human experiences to write about in fresh language. List five cliches that are often used to write about tears.

 

Practice.

Now practice writing about tears without cliche, beginning with fresh verbs: Write "tears" five times on a piece of paper. Then follow each instance of the word with a surprising verb.
