Daily Nourishment for June 22, 2024: You Already Have What You Need to Make the Art You Can Make Today

Daily Nourishment Read Time: 40 seconds
Pause/Prompt/Practice Time: 17 minutes

We don’t have to make this more complicated than it is.

Pause.

Take six deep breaths with a six-count inhale and a six-count exhale while looking at the art on this Instagram post at @art_and_theology.

Prompt.

You already have what you need to make the art you can make today.

People have been making art and creating things for a really long time. You can write, paint, sing, dance, etc. even if your circumstances are trash, the world is on fire, and you really wish this or that weren’t hanging over your head.

You can be creative today for 15 minutes (or more) without all of the experts’ advice. We don’t have to make this more complicated than it is.

And: If you feel a ton of resistance for whatever reason and the words above make you want to curl up in a ball and take a nap, try being curious about what’s going on in your heart, mind, and soul instead of looking to someone else to tell you what’s going on in *your* heart, mind, and soul.

Maybe making some art will help you discover what’s going on in your heart, mind, and soul.

Also, maybe it’s time for a nap?

Practice.

Set a timer for 15 minutes and make some art. Write, paint, draw, sing, dance, take photos, whatever.

When you’re done, consider these three questions:

1. How do you feel now compared to how you felt 15 minutes ago?
2. How did the art-making go?
3. What needs more attention the next time you return to this art?

Want More?
Make more art for 15 minutes again later today or tomorrow or one day soon.
