Daily Nourishment for February 22, 2024: Hallie Waugh with Full Bellies, Poetry, and More

Daily Nourishment Read Time: 30 seconds
Pause/Prompt/Practice Time: 13 minutes

“After a full belly, all is poetry.”
—Frank McCourt

Pause.

Take a sip or a bite of something you love that’s readily available. Practice mindful eating (or drinking) by sitting in silence, chewing slowly, and noticing how the taste makes you feel.

Prompt.

Set a timer for ten minutes and write about a meal you will never forget. Use as many sensory descriptors as you can.

Practice.

Read this poem.

  • Go to the supermarket this week and purchase a fruit or vegetable you typically don’t use—I’m thinking starfruit, dragonfruit, or leeks. Do a quick search on how to cook it, or enjoy it fresh.
